The Almighty Dollor

March 5th, 2007 at 05:56 pm

I happen to have a job interview with the middle school in my town tommorrow, now the pay is less than I currently make, and the hours of course would be school hours. I will have my little one in Kindergarden next year, and would love to be on the same schedule as her. If offered this position, and took it I would be taking a 5.00 hr cut in wage am I crazy to even be thinking about this?

I don't think so. I believe you should do what your heart tells you, and the rest will fall into place. It sounds to me like you want to be home with your child when they are home.

My mom worked school hours while we were growing up and it was great for us. She got home before our buses did. I would write down the pros and cons of each side and like littlemama says, see where your heart and finances take you. I don't think you are being crazy to consider it! Good luck on your interview!

    It depends Cecilia.

Your wage is important, as are benefits, but so is loving what you do and how condusive your hours are to a happy, healthy family.

If you factor in all of the above and determine that working for the school is best for your family, then NO, it is not a crazy idea at all....we somehow find ways to mold to our salaries.
